Iceland

Hey Guys!

The day is here, and the adventure begins--and it starts in Iceland. I’m currently soaking in the 20-hour per day sunshine at the famous Blue Lagoon. This is just the beginning, so be sure to keep a weather eye on your inbox, and my blog Kadorade.com for the updates on where I’m at and what I’m up to.

Conversation of the Day:

I met Nick (Nicholas) whose from London, and currently living in Iceland. One thing that makes Nick happy every day is when he first sees his eleven-month-old son each morning. I found this to be such a simple yet beautiful thing that brings him happiness every day. Since I have thirteen nieces and nephews I see the happiness that children can bring into your life, but not having kids of my own I haven’t had that privilege of experiencing it for myself.

Experience of the Day:

I was outside of the Blue Lagoon, taking some photos/video when a guy approached me super nervous. I could barely understand him when he asked me to take a picture of his girlfriend and him, but he did emphasize on taking “a lot” of photos.  As I started to take pictures he got down on one knee and proposed! I was in awe as I continued to snap photo after photo. I felt so overwhelmed with emotion and completely honored to have been asked by a complete stranger to capture this precious moment. It is something I will cherish for the rest of my life.

Words of a Child:

I had the most amazing hostess in Reykjavik who had another Couch-surfer there and her two sons. Her youngest (Arnar) is 8-years old and doesn’t speak very much English. I had her ask in Icelandic, the question: “what makes you happy?” At first he didn’t know how to respond; “I don’t know, I’m just happy!” He also said he’s always happy when he plays football (American soccer). He loves waking up in the morning and is excited to wake up and get going. His responses to my simple question, resonated deeply with my soul. I had my first attempt at suicide when I was 8 years old. It breaks my heart to think of those who suffer; I feel no child should ever have to experience feelings of depression or the thought of suicide.

Thanks to all of you for the amazing support on this journey. I’d love to connect with you while on my adventure, so feel free to reach out! (Also please subscribe to my email list if you haven’t ;)) http://eepurl.com/dAT0Pb
